Der Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album, auf Deutsch „Grammy-Auszeichnung für das beste Rock Gospel Album“, ist ein Musikpreis, der von 1991 bis 2011 von der amerikanischen Recording Academy im Bereich der Gospelmusik verliehen wurde.

Geschichte und Hintergrund Bearbeiten

Die seit 1959 verliehenen Grammy Awards werden jährlich in zahlreichen Kategorien von der Recording Academy in den Vereinigten Staaten vergeben, um künstlerische Leistung, technische Kompetenz und hervorragende Gesamtleistung ohne Rücksicht auf die Album-Verkäufe oder Chart-Position zu würdigen.

Eine dieser Kategorien ist der Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album. Der Preis wurde von 1991 bis 2011 vergeben. Er hieß von 1991 bis 1993 Grammy Award for Best Rock/Contemporary Gospel Album und von 2007 bis 2011 Grammy Award for Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album.

Die Auszeichnung wurde ab 2012 im Rahmen einer umfassenden Überarbeitung der Grammy-Kategorien eingestellt. Seit 2012 werden Rock Gospel-Aufnahmen in den Kategorien Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album oder Grammy Award for Best Gospel Album ausgezeichnet.
