Das 35. Fantasy Filmfest fand im Zeitraum vom 17. Oktober bis 7. November 2021 für jeweils acht Tage in Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Köln, München, Nürnberg und Stuttgart statt.
Aufgrund der COVID-19-Pandemie wurden die normalerweise im Januar stattfindenden White Nights und die für gewöhnlich im April stattfindenden Nights zu den Fantasy Filmfest Nights XL zusammengelegt. Diese fanden im Juni statt, im Vorfeld des Hauptfestivals. Für Frankfurt wurden die Nights XL komplett abgesagt, während sie in den anderen sechs Städten stattfanden. Gespielt wurden 17 Filme: A Quiet Place 2, Bad Hair, Caveat, Come True, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, The Dry – Lügen der Vergangenheit, Flashback, Gaia – Grüne Hölle, Jakob’s Wife, Kandisha, The Night, The Owners, The Paper Tigers, Seobok, Son, Violation und Voice of Silence.
Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes wurde mit dem Fresh Blood Award ausgezeichnet.
